Giorgio Gosetti

Giorgio Gosetti has been a professional journalist since 1989. He works for the culture and entertainment dept' of the ANSA national news agency. Founder of several cinema daily internet newspapers, he is also the author of  three film monographs (dedicated to Luigi Comencini, Marguerite Duras, Allan Dwan), curator of  anthologies (I colori del nero, Print the Legend, The Other Side of the Wind), and has written a monograph on Alfred Hitchcock and various essays on cinema and directors. In 1979 became head of permanent projects and activity at Biennale Cinema in Venice, a post he occupied up to 1984.He then became Vice-director of the Venice Film Festival from '92 to '96 under the Direction of Gillo Pontecorvo. In 2004 and 2005, he was appointed General Delegate of “Le Giornate degli Autori – Venice Days”, the independent new section of the Mostra di Venezia. Between 1999 and 2004 he was in charge like General Director of the Agency for the Promotion of Italian Cinema (first Italia Cinema, then Filmitalia).

As a festival director, after a long appointment for “Mystfest” (Mystery Film Festival in Cattolica), he became director in 1988.In 1991 he founded NOIR IN FESTIVAL, which currently takes place in Courmayeur. He co-founded and has been General Manager of the Rome Film Festival and Business Street from 2006 to 2008 when he resigned coming back to Venice. Gosetti is now again General Delegate of the Giornate degli Autori - Venice Days at the Mostra di Venezia, where the three films of the LUX Prize are premiered and is the main partner of the initiative " 28 Times Cinema".
