Cinando to bring the LUX Prize titles closer to professionals

The new partnership with Cinado announcement

The LUX Prize continues to bring European film closer to European audiences – this time, through the invaluable help of industry professionals. During the 71st Cannes Film Festival, the European Parliament initiative announced a new partnership with Cinando, through which the professional VoD platform will offer its users the chance to gain access to the LUX Prize finalists and, ultimately, help them spread across Europe (and the rest of the world).

During a presentation at the Creative Europe MEDIA stand at the festival, in the presence of Vice-President of the European Parliament Evelyne Gebhardt, Jérôme Paillard, head of the Cannes Film Market (which created Cinando in 2003), said, “We are very glad to be starting this partnership with the LUX Prize. Very soon, every recent film that has won the LUX Prize will be available on the platform, with all of its available subtitles, so that the festivals, VoD platforms and distributors can have easy access to them. We will ensure secure storage by duplicating the content, so that no information is ever lost, and it can all be easily downloaded in any format, through a transcoding process that will enable it to be used for VoD, theatrical screenings and even TV broadcasting.”

Evelyne Gebhardt added, “We have to make this European cultural richness of ours visible, and a tool such as this is great. In the lead-up to the European elections that we are going to have next year, it is very useful to make the European identity known: our liberties, our rights as citizens, the possibilities we have of living the way we want to live.”
