The LUX FILM DAYS are back in Brussels

The films in competition for the LUX Prize 2013 will be presented for the second year during the LUX FILM DAYS, which will take them across 43 cities of the European Union. Their first stops are in Cork on October 18, followed by the Zagreb Film Festival and Lithuania, and all the other European countries.

In Brussels, the LUX Prize and Bozar Cinema have the pleasure to invite you to the screenings of the three LUX Prize finalists, in BOZAR:

  • Thursday 7.11, 18:00 (OV Flemish, EN/FR subtitles): The Broken Circle Breakdown, directed by Flemish filmmaker Felix van Groeningen - the heartbreaking melodrama of Elise and Didier, their love story, tragedy and struggle to cope with it.
The film was presented at the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Label Europa Cinemas Award and the Audience Award. Now, after winning Best Screenplay and Best Actress at the Tribeca Film Festival, the feature will represent Belgium on the road to the foreign-language Oscar.
  • Thursday 7.11, 21:00 (OV English, FR/NL subtitles): The Selfish Giant, directed by British director Clio Barnard - the rich fable of Arbor and Swifty, two boys, outsiders in their own community, that get familiar with a tricky old man, business, greed and exploitation.
The film was also presented at Cannes, within the Directors’ Fortnight, where it received the Label Europa Cinemas award, and took off to become a sensation at this year’s festivals.
  • Wednedsay 13.11, 20:00 (OV Italian, NL/FR subtitles): Miele (Honey), directed by Italian actress-turned-director Valeria Golino - the morally and emotional challenging story of Irene, a young lady that helps terminally-ill people to die.
The film was presented in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, and has won several awards in Italy, such as two Golden Globes and three prizes from the Italian Syndicate of Film Journalists.

The screenings will take place at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Hall M.
