LUX Prize shares the taste with the European Film Awards

At the press conference in Riga, the European Film Academy unveiled the list of films recommended for a nomination for this year’s edition of the European Film Awards. The list, which comprises 50 movies representing a total of 31 countries, highlights once again the great diversity of European cinema, following in the LUX Prize’s footsteps.


Eight of the ten films making up the LUX Prize 2014 Official Selection have been shortlisted. Jaime Rosales’ Beautiful YouthSudabeh Mortezai’s MacondoRuben Ostlund’s Turist (Force majeure)Kornél Mundruczó’s White God and Alice Rohrwacher’s The Wonders, as well as the three finalists Rok Biček’s Class EnemyCéline Sciamma’s Girlhood and Pawel Pawlikowski’s Ida, are included in the list of films that will be voted for by the over 3,000 members of the European Film Academy in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter.


The final nominees will be unveiled on 8 November at the Sevilla European Film Festival, and the ceremony will take place in Riga, the European Capital of Culture 2014, on 13 December.
