Palm Springs dances to The Broken Circle Breakdown

Yet another recognition for the LUX Prize winner The Broken Circle Breakdown. Felix van Groeningen’s film has just won the main award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (January 3-13), the FIPRESCI prize for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.
The international critics’ jury praised the insight of the film, which they described as “a testament to the human spirit and how we can endure almost anything as long as there is even a sliver of hope or faith.” The film led the winners’ list, which was rounded out by The Hunt’s Mads Mikkelsen and The Past’s Bérénice Bejo in the acting awards.
Palm Spring’s competitive section is formed by the world countries’ submissions to the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Films. With this victory, Belgium’s submission stands out as one of the strongest front-runners. The Oscar nominees will be unveiled on January 16th.
